another tutorial - this time how I colour Red or Black hair using promarkers...
the same pic can look very different just by changing the hair colour! |
Ok first Red hair... I like to do quite a vibrant Red - being Auburn coloured myself I like it darker!
first I take Henna and do the tips, ends and the inner sections of curls and waves as these will be in shadow.
now take Terracotta and go over where you have just been and slightly futher..
next take spice, and just as before go over where you have already been and a bit futher in.. remember to leave a thin slice of white showing
last but not least take Apricot and go over everywhere in small circular movements to tie all the colours together and create the highlightsand there we have the completed redhead...
Now for Black hair.. this can be quite tricky because if we just used a black promarker you wouldnt see the lines in the background that make the hair as the black would blot them all out..
so first I use a tiny bit of black just to show the very tips and i follow alongside some of the hair lines
Now I use the set of Warm greys.. this would work just as well with the other grey sets but i find this set darker and more natural with the hint of brown it has.
Take W.G 5 and go over the crown and fringe and over where you have been with the black and ever so slighty futher..
and again the same with WG4
and again with WG3 taking time to blend the shades with small circular movements and remembering to leave a strip free for the highlight
Now i skip straight to WG1 for a highlight, going over everywhere to make sure all the shades are tied in .. if you find you have bleached it out too much then qhickly go back over the darker areas with your WG4 to add a bit more shade
and here is the finished result..
So that is my Red and Black hair... its not the only way to do it , just how I do it personally.. I have shown it on curly hair as i find this the trickiest with all the highlights in the waves.. with straight hair you would have the highlight across the fringe and the colour blended from the top and bottom into the middle. For a mousy blonde colour check my other tutorial on hair and skin.
you can experiment with hair colours, as long as you have at least a dark, middle and light Hue of a similar colour to work with.. and the more hues you have the better the tones. for dark brown hair i would suggest Umber, Burnt Sienna, and Caramel with sandstone highlights.
have fun!!!!
